=============================================== December 31, 2008 Much to my surprise, my State of Illinois auto license plate that has the word "OBAMA" on it, drew a lot of unexpected, unsolicited media attention in December 2008. Note: These are
thoughts about Barack Obama prior to his election as the 44th President of
the United States on November 4, 2008. This web page has been up since
January 2006.
God bless Senator Barack Obama! With a first name that means "blessed" in Arabic, this man truly is blessed. As the junior Democratic U.S Senator from the Great State of Illinois, he was elected in November 2004 in a landslide victory (74% of the vote - largest in IL history) against Republican Alan Keyes. I was simply blown away by his 2004 Democratic National Convention Keynote Speech, as so many others were also. Did you know that he personally wrote his own speech? That speech helped get the attention of many at the national level, helping make people aware of Barack Obama's great potential as a leader. Anyway, here in Illinois where I live, we are so proud of Senator Obama. He is handsome, has a smooth style, and is well-spoken and charismatic. His apparent "Rock Star" phenomenon status notwithstanding, Senator Obama is a man of great principles, great character, great oratory, great ideals, great capability, great energy, great intellect, and great vision. I have personally seen Senator Obama speak in January 2006 at the College of DuPage in DuPage County in Northern Illinois -- Deep in the Heart of Republican Territory in Illinois. When this man walks into a room, he commands people's attention, and when he finishes speaking and answering questions, everyone leaves feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and even more excited than when they came it. It was an incredible phenomenon to witness and experience. I sat on the second row in this auditorium that was filled to capacity, and had an additional 50% overflow crowd in the halls watching on monitors. Indeed I was blessed to be there and see it for myself. I personally believe that he has a historical place in our State and in our great Country's future, at the national level, that will be on par with that of President John F. Kennedy. He is simply among the very best and most inspiring that America has to offer. God Bless Senator Obama and his family. I earnestly pray every day that he will be given every possible opportunity to demonstrate his full potential, which I strongly believe is enormous. Below is a picture of Senator Obama's parents. I think his good looks come from his mother. She was a beautiful woman.

By the way, I strongly recommend Senator Obama's first autobiography, (see below) which has sold well over 500,000 copies and is in its 18th printing. Visit Amazon.com and see what the reviews are for the book and Senator Obama. I finally finished it during Christmas vacation 2005. In this book, besides showing a personal look into Senator Obama's life, it contains some great life lessons and great examples of applied wisdom. What surprised me was just how interesting his trip to Africa was, prior to his admission to Harvard Law School. There, he got to know all the members of his father's side of the family, and also a great deal about his family history. That was all very fascinating and wonderfully written. In March 2006, Senator Obama became the first U.S. Senator to ever win a Grammy Award, when he won one for the spoken recorded version of this book. He has an excellent, crystal clear, bass voice, and he was the one doing the reading. If you want to order a copy to listen to Senator Obama reading this book, instead of reading it yourself, click here to see online options for buying this book. I plan to get a copy of this also. His second book was completed in March 2006 and was published in October 2006. Titled, The Audacity of Hope, it examines the American Experience and looks at the historical record of how the United States has done in living up to the ideals of its Founders. Click here to order place an order for this book at Amazon.com. I bought two copies of the Audacity of Hope in October 2006. One is autographed by Senator Obama. The other I took to Warsaw, Poland with me during Christmas 2006. I really liked it a lot. It's a great book which not only explains Senator Obama's thinking, but which also reveals how the pettiness of our politics has impaired our government's ability to serve its people. After reading the Audacity of Hope, I am convinced more than ever, that Barack Obama is a brilliant leader with the integrity, good character, and a strong moral compass, who could help turn this around.

February 3, 2008 Barack Obama has a very good chance to wrap up the Democratic Party Nomination for President on February 5, 2008. William Favre Slater, III =============================================== May 3, 2007 Hello again, That filmed interview from CBS News didn't run because they filmed so many different topics in Chicago while they were here on assignment. I understand. You can only fit a limited amount of content in 23 minutes. It was a minor disappointment, but I got over it quickly. I did visit Barack Obama's MySpace Website and was pleasantly surprised to see that a woman in Florida has a personalized Florida auto tag that reads, "OBAMA 08". Regards, William Favre Slater, III
=============================================== April 22, 2007 Hello again, I should have included these two interesting pictures here a while back. Both were taken in December 2006.

=============================================== April 19, 2007 Hello again, For a very interesting time, be sure to watch the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric on Friday, April 27, 2007, on your local CBS affiliate television station. In Chicago, this piece will air between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM. If you have been following me and the OBAMA tag story, you may be surprised at what you see. Note: If you miss the broadcast, check the the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric website on or not long after April 27 2007. They include stories they have broadcast on that website. God Bless Barack Obama and his Family, and God Bless the United States of America! Regards, William Favre Slater, III
=============================================== April 15, 2007 Hello again, I have been a WIRED Magazine reader since it first arrived on the scene in 1992. For me, this was a life-changing event. Anyway, recently WIRED Magazine featured a website where you can create your own WIRED Magazine covers. Click below and you will see some very interesting FANTASY WIRED Magazine covers I created. A few reference Senator Obama.

God Bless Barack Obama and his Family, and God Bless the United States of America! Regards, William Favre Slater, III =============================================== April 14, 2007 It's funny how media attention can follow you when you are not seeking it. Click on the picture by Chicago Tribune Photographer Heather Stone, above or follow this link and you will see that this OBAMA personalized license plate story is all over the web. And be sure to check out the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric on April 27, 2007. There will probably be a story about me and the OBAMA personalized license tag there also. Personal comment: The attention and everything is nice, but I really think it's a non-story if you know what I mean. I would much rather see stories about some brilliant team of high school students who had earned college scholarships while formulating a method for cheap alternative fuel to help get this country weaned off its addiction to massive quantities of foreign oil, which has geopolitical perils as strings attached. In any case, if the OBAMA personalized plate helps wake up people about what a great man Barack Obama is and what a great leader he will be as the 44th president of our country, maybe it was all worth it, and maybe we'll see more stories like I described above. God Bless Barack Obama and his Family, and God Bless the United States of America! Regards, William Favre Slater, III ===============================================
March 28, 2007 Hello, The Chicago Tribune did indeed publish an article about my IL Personalized Tag that reads OBAMA. To see the article, click here. I hope you enjoy the article. In fact, I hope Senator Obama and his Staff enjoy it too! Regards, William Favre Slater, III ===============================================
March 21, 2007 Here are two Obama-related interesting items from world of media: 1) An unusual, but excellently done, political ad based on the famous Apple Computer Super Bowl TV commercial from 1984 and it's the most popular video on the web! Note: Senator Barack Obama's campaign organization is claiming no knowledge or involvement with the ad. (click picture below to view it) 2) A reporter and a photographer both from the Chicago Tribune met with me last week to gather facts and pictures of my Illinois personalized license plate. The story is supposed to run soon and I will place a link to it here. In the meantime, if you want to see a piture of me holding this unusual license plate, click here: My Obama License Plate.

February 25, 2007 I think about Barack Obama a lot. And I am confident that he has a decent chance to win the Democratic nomination for president. And if not, he should form a third party and run as an independent, because I still think he is very electable and that he would make a great U.S. President. Anyway, last night I dreamt I was at some kind of political function and a friend who knows Michelle Obama introduced us. I told Mrs. Obama that I was a huge fan of her and her husband, and that I think she will be a great First Lady. Apparently overcome with a combination of modesty, pride and joy, she began to cry. I was touched, and realized what a fine lady she really is. Go Barack Obama! Less than 700 days till you are sworn in and make our dreams a reality.

February 10, 2007 Barack Obama declares his firm intentions to run for President of the United States. I didn't waste any time. I went to www.barackobama.com and made a contribution to his campaign. God Bless Barack Obama and his family. I sincerely hope and pray that he is elected as the 44th president of the United States.

January 16, 2007 U.S. Senator Barack Obama declares that he is filing papaers with the Federal Election Commission and forming an Exploratory Committee to explore the possibility of running for the office of President of the United States. Click below to see the video of the announcement: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid353515028/bctid422873237 This is a great day for the United States when Senator Obama has the courage and boldness to make this decision. Yes, I love Senator Barack Obama and his family. He inspires us so!!! Every fiber of my being tells me that this is the best man to send to the White House in 2009. We would be so blessed to have this man as our new President in January 2009 when President G.W. Bush finally leaves office. (See Obama Countdown Clock at the top of this page.) God Bless Senator Barack Obama and his family!

=============================================== October 23, 2006And finally, should Senator Obama run for the office of U.S. President in 2008? Absolutely! I think having a President Barack Obama in the White House would be a wonderful thing for the country and for the world. I know that he could do a lot of good because he has vision, intelligence, and maturity. He is also very level-headed for one who seems to wow the crowds so much like a rock star. I pray that God will protect him and his family and that we will be lucky enough to see this great man win the Presidential race in 2008.
